I'd heard of landing pages, but I'd stupidly dismissed them without thinking about it.
What made me look into them further was when I heard the difference in conversion rates.
If you're trying to get hold of someone's email, a normal website might convert maybe 1%-5% of website visitors. But a landing page? I've now got landing pages that convert 50% of visitors.
Yes, you heard me right, 50%.
So, now you realise how much of an impact using them can have, here's what they are and how you make them good.
What is a Landing Page?
A landing page is a standalone web page designed specifically to encourage visitors to take a single action. That's it.
What action? Well, it could be for them to give you their email, or to get them to make a purchase.
But the important thing? -> ONE DAMN ACTION!
By having only one action and nothing else on the web page the psychology changes significantly. They then have the choice either do the action, or leave. Simple.
And the result is that conversions skyrocket vs a normal webpage.
Here's an Example:
Right, so this is one of my Landing Pages currently. It has one goal....get an email.
Notice how it doesn't have a header or a footer?
You do? Great. Now, why do you think this is?
It's so that you don't damn click elsewhere! You have two options on this webpage....enter your email or leave.
What Makes a Good Landing Page?
-
Compelling Headline
Your headline should immediately grab attention and clearly convey the value of your offer. It sets the tone for the visitor's experience on the page.
-
Simple Content
Keep your copy concise and focused on the benefits to the visitor. Use bullet points, subheadings, and images to make the content easily digestible.
-
Strong Call to Action (CTA)
Your CTA should stand out and encourage immediate action. Use contrasting colors for buttons and action-oriented language like "Download Now" or "Get Started Today."
-
Minimal Asks
Only ask for essential information to reduce friction. The shorter and simpler the form, the more likely visitors are to complete it.
-
One Damn Action
Remove navigation menus & footers. The goal is to keep the visitor focused on the offer without diverting their attention elsewhere.
But, What Makes A Super Duper High Converting Landing Page?
Two words my friend. Lead Magnets.
A lead magnet is a free offer—such as an ebook, checklist, webinar, or exclusive discount—provided to visitors in exchange for their contact information, typically an email address.
You are giving them something, in exchange for their email address (or contact details).
It's a trade. They get something they want, and you are able to contact them in the future.
All the landing pages I have with a 50% conversion rate, have Lead Magnets.
