How I Got 97,000 Views on LinkedIn in 2 Weeks

Guys, I’ve had a good couple of weeks. I started posting on LinkedIn, and your boy has smashed it. 97,000 views.

Not quite as good as when I got 474,000 views on Reddit, but I really can’t complain…

Now, I know what you're thinking, “how the heck did Rob manage that?”

With black magic of course, what else? I jest, I jest.

There were a few things that went into it:

  • Sharing interesting reports & videos
  • Cover page & first 3 seconds most important
  • First line of posts description
  • Second line opens a curiosity loop
  • Scheduled the Posts once a day

I'll share below how each of these things made a difference, but first, here are some stats for you:

Sharing Interesting Reports & Videos

Sounds like BS, but this was a big part of it. Sharing a good report or video had a bonkers click through rate, so it really was key. One of the reports I shared had a 91.72% click through rate. Madness.

Here were the stats for that post:

The Cover Page & First 3 Seconds

If my front page or first 3 seconds of a video is bad people ain't going to read/watch the next bit. Their first impression of the post is what counts.

Here's an example:

First Line of Post Description

Again, this goes into their first impression. My first line was my opportunity to Hook the reader and get them to read on. I'd try to open a curiosity loop, to make them curious to read what's actually in the report.

Here's an example💡What's a Startup really worth? Well, it's complicated, but, here's how you figure it out. 👇

Second Line Opens a Curiosity Loop

Oh guess what? I'm talking about first impressions again. Now, my second line is my next opportunity to re-hook the reader. In some cases, I'd try and get them curious by writing something that contrasts with my first line (but is still true). Or something that opens a new avenue of why the first line is so interesting.

Here's an example that I did (to open a curiosity loop): Ever wondered how top VCs consistently strike gold? It's not luck, and it's certainly not just about a compelling pitch deck. The real magic happens in the rigorous evaluation process that follows.

Scheduled the Posts Once a day

I'd write the post the night before, then schedule it for Midday the next day. No idea whether this posting frequency made any difference or not. But it was easy to do, and didn't take very long to post once a day. If I posted less, I'd get less impressions, so that's why I went with once a day.

Conclusion

Don't feel you have to take my stuff as gospel, I'm not a pro, but the above is what worked for me. Hope it helps!
